Perhentian Kecil is a great place for backpackers and budget travellers. But Perhentian Besar is a better choice for families and couples. Getting to the Perhentians requires taking a boat. It is best to go in the summer.
Nearby Perhentian Kecil — the small island — is a little more laid back, and many of the resorts there are just as affordable.
